21st century is called
as a century of information and communication. Any places in
the world is connected with internet like a spider web, and
the digital technology is improving fast everyday. Korea is
not an exception. In fact, the era of information and
digitalization is so strong that now there are more than
20,000,000 internet users in Korea. Information oriented which
can be explained by digital caused a huge impact on human
society, economy and culture. It is possible to say that the
information oriented which put the world into the wind of
change started with the invention of metal printing type. By
the invention of metal printing type, recording and conveying
massive information became possible. Therefore, Cheoungju
in which the first iron printing type, Jikji was firstly
invented can be considered as a mecca of information. It is
also related to the reputation of the city as a city of
education. It helped a lot with the education in the city.
Lately, high tech institutions like Osong Health and
Medical Science Complex , Ochang Science Industry Complex and
Aeropolis are taking place around Cheoungju, and the plan to
build a Cultural and Industrial Complex to develop edutainment
which graft digital and education. The city that invented
Jikji is trying to reborn as a city of high tech and culture.
